of Grand Rapids began manufacturing furniture at the beginning of the
20th century. Within 25 years they achieved the status of one of the
foremost American furniture manufacturers. They boasted in their
advertisements that they were The World’s Greatest Table Makers. The
tags found on each table were considered an endorsement of the quality
of woods used and that it had a genuine waterproof lacquer finish. Today
these pieces are old enough to be considered antiques in their own
right.
